Carol Morris – Program Coordinator
The Program Coordinator organizes and administers all Collective programs: workshops, contests, Inside Publishing, Library Out Loud, Writers’ Circles and The Collective Consciousness. The Coordinator also supports the volunteer committee that organizes Speaking Crow.
Carol divides her time between the Writers’ Collective and her position as Grant Coordinator for Siloam Mission. You can always find her with the community members in the drop-in center – getting the low down on what’s going on in Winnipeg! She has been a professional grant writer for close to 20 years, but refuses to admit her age, other than it is the age of reason!
The Writers’ Collective is governed by a volunteer board. The Board oversees and supports the operations of the Collective. The Board makes decisions about programming and finances. The Board also includes the Editorial Committee that manages The Collective Consciousness.
Eve Dutton – President
After a year as volunteer layout artist for the Collective Consciousness, Eve Dutton joined the Writers’ Collective Board in 2008, became Vice-President in 2009, and moved up to the President’s chair in 2014. Her third-grade report card reads as follows: “Eve loves to write. Unfortunately, we cannot get her to stop.”
Sarah Lynn Vaage –Vice President
Sarah Lynn Vaage joined the board in 2015. She is a freelance writer, editor, and communications specialist. She has been published in a Winnipeg portfolio on Lemon Hound and in The Uniter, and has edited Rooted in Rhetoric, an academic journal published by the Rhetoric, Writing, and Communications Department at The University of Winnipeg.
Michael Hutchinson is a member of the Misipawistik Cree Nation and is currently a host of APTN National News. His start in journalism began in Alberta at The Calgary Straight and theaboriginaltimes magazine. After a move to Ottawa, Michael spent three years as a writer/editor at the Indian Claims Commission. He moved back to Winnipeg to work in communications at the Assembly of Manitoba Chiefs and so his kids could experienced his family’s homelands.
Heaven-Lee Lundberg joined the board Spring 2016. She is currently completing a Rhetoric, Writing, and Communications degree at the University of Winnipeg, but her heart lies in creative writing. She is an aspiring author who hopes to one day work full-time as a novelist.
The Writers’ Collective would not be what it is today without its valued volunteers. Members make up our “Cookie Crew” and are often hands on deck at our various events. They also take on regular roles, such as indicated below. Our thanks is eternal.
